Do you have a puppy between 3-10 months old?
As canine behaviourists, we often deal with older dogs. That’s not because older dogs aren’t well behaved, or because they can’t learn new things as well as young dogs: it’s because they’ve practiced those behaviours their whole lives!
You may have already heard about the socialization window. From 3 to 12 weeks old, your puppy is basically a sponge; new information about their environment and their feelings about that environment are integrated with ease. However, many people think that after 12 weeks, their puppy’s socialization is over, and the job is done.
Once the socialization window closes, it’s time to instil structure. This means bringing the dog into new situations, and showing them exactly what you’d like them to do in those new situations. Whether it be sitting calmly at your feet on a terrasse, walking to heel on a busy street, or being able to settle down at home, instilling a consistent structure is the best way to get ahead of the training curve, and give your pup the best chances at being a well-balanced, confident adult.

Exposition sessions can be anywhere! We can properly introduce your dogs to other animals, new environments, or any other stimulus you’d like.

Depending on your lifestyle and the life you’d like to have with your dog, we will develop bespoke training regimens to suit your needs. We’ll follow a similar procedure to how service dogs are trained, by bringing the dog to new locations and giving them the tools to make the appropriate choices in any space.
During our session, the focus will be placed on introducing one new location, and the desired behaviours in that location. In addition, we will show you how to continue working under this framework to repeat the procedure in any environment you’d like!
